The TTxL bar was born of necessity. The first Proper Microlite stem is a frontload and with several team riders using toploads when the samples arrived we realized we'd need a taller bar for them to keep the same rise. As things turned out we're now making a topload version of the Microlite stem, however, by the time that decision was made the TTxL bars were already on their way. We're yet to find anyone that doesn't love TTL bars so we kept the same specs - we couldn't keep the exact same wide box section or they'd have been 30"+ wide so that got narrowed down and now you can run the bars at 27" wide with a brake lever and fairly long grips.
Some people freak out at 8.75" tall bars but measure 1/2" between your thumb and forefinger and tell me that's way taller than 8.25"! Plus we have a lot of team riders over 6ft tall.
David spoke to Joris Coulomb and Gavin Shortall that have been testing those TTxL for a while now...
Hey Joris, how long have you been testing those bars?
About 3 months.
Good feelings?
This bar is awesome it really feel stable! perfect control of the bike.
What is your set up with?
I've got the new Microlite Front load stem with one little spacer, those together feels great!
Would you go back on a regular TTL?
I don't think i would, because it's pretty much the same feeling in better...
Gavin, good feelings?
Yeah, so far so good! At first they felt a little crazy and my bike definitely responded to the change, but yeah, all in all I'm enjoying them.
Yeah from what i saw in France, most of the kids who tried your bike were really into your bars (and so Max and Miller). What is your set up with?
Currently I'm running a Fly Bikes stem which is serving me well.
Would you go back to the regular TTL bar?
As of now, probably not.
The TTxL is due early August. You can always go to your local bike shop to pre-order it!
